Juanfra Rodríguez. Director

Juanfra Rodríguez was born in the island of Gran Canaria in 1966. He graduated from the Royal School of Dramatic Art of Madrid (RESAD), in the specialty of Performing Direction. For the company Yokikana Teatro, he writes and directs Invisibles (2006) , and El papahuevo falls in love (2008), premiered in the same hall in Madrid, and presented for World Theater Day 2009 at the Guimerá Theater Santa Cruz of Tenerife. He is the author and director of The next year, work on the first days of the military coup of the year 1936 in the Canary Islands. He also wrote and directed the Consuelo en El Asubio a work about four generations of women in Cantabria, from 1940 to the present, which was staged in October 2015 at the Concha Espina Theater in Torrelavega.

Maria Escobar. Director

Artist, director, performer and teacher. Her extensive trajectory in the Performing Arts is formed by different projects related to Theater, Dance, the Arts of Movement, Performance and Sociology. Since 2007 she runs her own company Mery Dörp, where she works as a performer and independent artist, always using the body as the base of her pieces. Her latest creation is Nude & Naked (2016), co-directed with Juanfra Rodríguez. She collaborates with action art collectives like LeftHandRotation or Not From Here. Her artistic practice has been accompanied by extensive teaching since 2003 around Body Expression, Performqnce, Artwork and in recognized Theatre Schools, Museums, Universities and Foundations, like Museo del Prado, U.C.M., U.C.L.M, M or Fundación Telefónica, among others.

George RodosthenousDirector, Academic

Dr George Rodosthenous is Associate Professor in Theatre Directing at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries of the University of Leeds since 2002. He has been the Director of Enterprise and Knowledge Transfer for the School from 2009-2012. George is the Artistic Director of the theatre company Altitude North and also works as a freelance director/composer for the theatre. His research interests are: the body in performance, refining improvisational techniques and compositional practices for performance, devising pieces with live musical soundscapes as interdisciplinary process, updating Greek Tragedy and The British Musical.

Rouven Rech. Documentary Film maker

Ηe has committed himself to the genre of documentaries. He has studied documentary film and graduated as a director at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. As director, he realised a feature-length documentary on the Trans-Kalahari-Highway for the TV-channel SWR. He has produced several feature documentary films for the German public television and theatrical release as director and producer. His documentaries have been awarded at film festivals. The latest films have been nominated for the German Film Award and the Grimme-Preis. (No land’s song and Hoffenheim – Das Leben ist kein Heimspiel).

Vasilis Gianellos. Actor

Vasilis Giannelos was born in Piraeus in May 1987. He graduated from the Higher Drama School “Iasmos” in 2010 and then he worked professionally in the field of theatre, dance and art. He participated in performances for children, in theatre and dance performances and in experimental theatre projects. He has attended many seminars of dance and acrobatics. In the last years, he has been collaborating with the theatre group “Spirto” as an actor, while in the past he has participated in performances such as “Harold Pinter’s Night” at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.

                                                                               

Veronica Iliopoulou. Actress           

Actress and singer. She graduated from Asp.Papathanassiou Desmi in 1994 , where she had specialized in ancient drama. As an actress she collaborated with National Theatre of Greece, National Theatre of Northern Greece and other theatrical groups and companies,directed by significant directors like: L.Koniordou, G.Kimoulis,S.Hatzakis,Th.Moumoulidis,St.Tsakiris, N.Tsakiroglou, V.Papavassileiou, K.Tsianos, P.Stein and others. She holds a diploma in opera classical signing. She has indulged in Greek traditional singing and Indian music. She took part in D.Samiou’s music group as well as V.Kotsou’s  Polyphonic group of Epirus , with concerts in Greece and other countries. She has sung in India with the famous singer Anup Jalota, since she has been active in Mumbai too.    

Grigoria Metheniti. Actress

She graduated from Athens Conservatoire Drama School  (2016) and has been involved in gymnastics and dance for the past fourteen years.  An important momento was her collaboration with the director Nikos Karathanos and the choreographer Amalia Bennett in Ornithes (Ancient Theater of Epidaurus – Athens and Epidaurus Festival 2016, Onassis Cultural Center 2016). As well as the foundation of BOi theater group and the production of CHEKH-OFF (Poli theater 2016-7) and Oedipus Rex (Megaron Athens Concert Hall 2017) under the guidance of her drama tutors Io Voulgaraki, Christos Papadopoulos, Argiri Xafi, Amalia Moutousi and Amalia Bennett.

 

Giannis Papaioannou. Actor

Born in Athens. He is a graduate of  “Drama School of Athens, George Theodosiadis” and the Law School of Athens Univercity. Has attended seminars and workshops by Tasos Bandis, Dimitris Kataleifos, Mania Papadimitriou, Giannis Dalianis, Anna Makraki (Acting -Improvisation), Mary Tsoutis, Lila Zafiropoulou (Movement), George Korras (Cinema), Gennadios Patsis, (Stage Combat), Viki Panagiotaki (Alexander Technique). He has worked with many directors in theatrical performances (Aris Retsos –Tavli (Kechaidis), Enke Fezolari –Platonov (Chechoff), Michalis Panadis – Festen (Vinterberg), Water Drops on Burning Rocks (R.W.Fassbinder), Gregory Chatzakis –  The Father  (Strindberg), Marianna Kalbari – Sixth Floor (Gehri) etc, as well as in several films. Teaches drama for kids.

 

Ángel Perabá. Performer

Actor, art-educator, dancer and movement adviser. He is interested in the technique of scenic and performing composition, (he studied with members of the SITI Company) and has others dance-theatre references. As an actor, he studied in RESAD, the Royal School of Dramatic Arts (Madrid), where he received his degree in acting. His last works are: Nora, 1959 (dir. Lucía Miranda, The Cross Border Project), ¡Cómo está Madriz! (dir. Miguel del Arco, Teatro de la Zarzuela) and Long Distance Affair (PopUp Theatrics, Fringe Festival in Edinburgh and in the Biennale de Arte Joven in Buenos Aires) and the performance Atávico (dir. Poliana Lima, first prize in the 18th Madrid Choreography Contest).

Vasileios Skarmoutsos. Dancer, Choreographer

He has studied Communication and Mass Media in the university of Athens, Dance in the professional dance school «Rallou Manou», cultural and film studies (MA) and he is a PhD candidate in performing arts (School of Fine Arts, University of Peloponnese).

He has attended a series of seminars in classical ballet, contemporary dance, improvisation, choreography,acting and direction. He has worked as performer with several choreographers and directors: Annie Vigier & Frank Apertet – Documenta 14, 600 HIGHWAYMEN – Οnassis Cultural Center , Pil & Gallia – 4th Athens Biennale,etc. In 2011 he founded the AleaJactaEst dance company, where he choreographs  and directs his own ideas (Violence/2013,Delirium/2014,Memoria/2015, etc.).

Nicoletta Charatzoglou. Actress

Born in Thessaloniki in 1990 and in the age of ten she moved to Athens. From 1999 to 2006 she was an athlete of synchronized swimming. She studied French at Sorbonne (2009-10) and Theatre Studies at Université Paris 8 in Paris (2010-13). From 2013 to 2016, she studied acting at the Drama School “ARCHI” Nelli Karra. From 2016 until today she is attending Alexandros Arkadopoulos’ classes in folk clarinet. As an actress she participated in the films: Vietnam (2015) dir. M. Palamari, The Magic Skin (2016) dir.K. Samaras and in the performance Waiting for Godot (2016) dir. N. Karra.

Maria Psarologou. Actress

She has graduated from the National Theatre of Northern Greece Drama School(2010).

She has participated in the following performances: Return to Boudegiovitse ( dir. C. Bentancor, theatre group Art Vouveau, OLVIO 2017), The Crutches  or how I forgot to walk (dir. D. Tikos, theatre group Art Vouveau, Baumstrasse, 2014-2015), Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine (dir. Mette Edvardsen, MIRfestival 2012, National Library of Greece), No Body else (concept and direction: Kirkis Karalis, Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, February 2011). She has also participated in the short films Blue Carrot (script – direction by Dim. Bambidima, 2012)) and Drop it (script by Rene Gatsis and directed by Kirki Karali, Aegeanscapes Filmmakers 2013). She has attended seminars of acting, dance and percussion instruments. She is interested in writing and is engaged with children and adults animation.

 

Marina Anoussi has studied interior architecture design. She has specialized in theatre lighting in Greece and Spain. She has participated in theatre productions, as a ligt designer but also assistant director. She lives and work between Spain and Greece.

Maria Chatziemmanouil, Theatre Translator

Maria Chatziemmanouil is a philologist, a theatre specialist and a theatre translator. She has worked at public secondary schools for 20 years. She has translated alone or in collaboration 103 Spanish, Catalan and Spanish-language plays, many of which have been published and/or performed. She has also translated Eugenio Barba’s book L’ Arte Segreta dell’ attore from Italian, and part of Oscar Brockett’s and James Hildy’s book History of the Theatre from English. In 2017 she launched the website www.soloteatro.gr, dedicated to the Spanish-language Theatre. She was a candidate for the “Marios Ploritis” Theatre Translation Award in 2009 (for Juan Mayorga’s play Animales Nocturnos) and for the Theatre Translation Award of the Theatre Museum for 2010-2011 (for Rottweiler by Guillermo Heras and La Chunga by Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa). She was awarded twice by Eurodram, in 2015 for her translation of Sergi Belbel’ s play Fora de joc and in 2017 for Paco Bezerra’s El pequeño poni. She has participated in international conferences making presentations on Spanish theatre (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona 2005, Oxford University 2012 among others), while articles and research papers written by her have been published in Greek and Spanish literary magazines. She is a resident columnist of the Spanish theatre magazine ARTEZ (www.revistadeteatro.com). She served as Deputy General Secretary (2008-2010) and General Secretary (2010-2012) of the Hellenic Center of the International Theatre Institute.
